Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Hi, I'm Gladys — the heart behind Crystals and Rocks of Shiro.
This journey began with a simple visit to the Manitoba Fossil Discovery Centre. During that visit, I discovered my very first crystal pieces, and something about them captured my heart. I was fascinated by their natural beauty, unique formations, and the stories they carried from deep within the Earth.
What started as curiosity grew into a passion for collecting, learning, and sharing these natural treasures with others.
Why Crystals and Rocks of Shiro?
I chose this name because I wanted it to be simple, honest, and true to what this journey represents.
"Crystals and Rocks" reflects the beauty of these treasures in their natural, raw, and authentic form. Every specimen is unique, with its own colors, patterns, and character.
"Shiro" is inspired by my sweet Shiba Inu, Shiro. His name, which I associate with "white gentleman" in Japanese, reflects the gentle companionship and joy he has brought into my life.
He came into my life unexpectedly and became a special part of this journey.
Just like crystals, every story has unexpected discoveries. After moving to Calgary, Shiro became my companion through a new chapter of life, and through him I learned the importance of connection, patience, and building a community.
A New Chapter in Calgary
During the pandemic, life brought me to Calgary. Starting over in a new city was a new chapter, and crystals became a way for me to connect with people, build friendships, and find a community that shared the same appreciation for nature's beauty.
What began as a personal passion slowly became a place where conversations happen, friendships grow, and people can discover something special for themselves.
More Than Just a Crystal Shop
Crystals and Rocks of Shiro is not just about selling stones.
It is about:
-
appreciating the natural beauty of minerals,
-
learning about Earth's treasures,
-
connecting with others,
-
and finding a piece that becomes part of your own story.
Each crystal is carefully chosen because every piece has something unique to offer.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
I hope Crystals and Rocks of Shiro feels like a welcoming place where you can explore, learn, connect with others, and discover a piece that becomes meaningful to you.
